    Shirts and other running "gear"

My wife says I have an obsession with running shirts. At last count I had 30 running shirts in my closet. The only obsession I have is that my running shirts have to be technical running shirts, you won't catch me running in cotton. Some are long sleeve for winter running, some are short sleeve for summer running, some were given to me as gifts, and some are from races I've entered and run.

She also gives me grief on the amount of running "gear" I have which ranges from water bottles to fuel belts, of which I have two (a Nathan's Speed 2 and Speed 4;it depends on what I'm running as to which belt I'll use, if any). Then there's the running gloves, caps, shoes, watches, etc. I won't even touch on my iPod collection.

Does anyone else get grief from their signficant other on their amount of running gear?

Oh yes.  I made the mistake of complaining to my wife that she had too many shoes and that she should have to throw away an old pair before she could buy a new pair.  Boy did that backfire.  She opened my running closet and started counting the pairs of running shoes!  I now have what I consider to be a very restrictive limit of no more then 8 pairs of running shoes.  :-(

I would add to your collection list, headlamps, socks (lots of socks), power bars, powdered fuel mixtures, sunglasses, first aid kits and of course bikes.  I'm at only 3 bikes now, down from four a year ago.

With respect to shirts, 30 doesn't seem unreasonable.  I still have my high school cross county shirt.  It's on the verge of total decomposition but I save it anyway.  One day soon I'll go to look at it and only find a heap of dust.

Humans like to collect things and collecting running gears just shows you're human!  Keep it up.

I won't even touch on all the other gear I have like socks, gloves, running tights, jackets, etc.
